Petitioner Syed Iqbal Kazmi submitted KESC was carrying out unannounced load shedding in metropolis daily for several hours. No power outage took place during visit of President or Prime Minister, but KESC deliberately suspends power supply without any prior public notice after such personalities leave Karachi. KESC counsel Kamel Sherazi said public notices were issued through newspapers for schedule of load shedding. Kazmi contended schedule of power shut down due to maintenance works were issued. No schedule of load shedding was issued for general public information. Advance schedule of load shedding was issued in Islamabad & some other cities, but KESC not doing so in Karachi.
SHC division bench after hearing arguments directed KESC counsel to inform court whether KESC could issue load shedding schedule in advance for general public information. He sought time, which was granted till July 16, 2009.
