The Dow surged 135 points to close above the historic 13,000 mark today.  Blue chip leaders today included Alcoa (AA | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) and IBM (IBM | Quote | Chart | News | PowerRating) with gains of 5% and 3% respectively.

June crude futures rose 1.9% to $65.81 a barrel, after EIA data showed that U.S. gasoline inventories fell to the lowest levels in 18 months.  June gold futures were fractionally lower to $687.30 an ounce.

The major European indices finished with nice gains across the board.  France's CAC 40 Index and Germany's DAX both added 1%.  Britain's FTSE 100 Index rose 0.5%.

Today's PowerRatings Heat Map continues to show slight weakness in several sectors- Energy, Electronics, Transportation, and Computer Hardware.  The Drug sector continues to show divergence, which continues to show a divergence between high PowerRatings stocks and low PowerRatings stocks.  This gives traders an opportunity to trade this sector to the long side and to the short side.  Click here for a free trial to our PowerRatings Heat Maps.
