Dow Sets Another Record High
Strong gains were made across the board in today’s
session, despite more negative housing data. The Dow edged
up 0.8%, while both the Nasdaq and S&P 500 rose 0.9%. S&P
500 member Bausch and Lomb added nearly 10% after it agreed to be
bought out by a private equity firm.
Following today’s crude
inventory report that showed a build, June crude futures closed
down 1% to $62.55.Â
June gold futures slid 1.9% to $661.50 an ounce after the US
dollar strengthened against the major currencies.
Around Europe, Britain’s FTSE 100
Index fell 0.1% to close at 6,559.50, Germany’s DAX lost 0.3% to
7,481.25, and France’s CAC 40 Index lost 0.5% to 6,017.91.
Today’s
