didn’t hurt the ETFs’ chances of finishing off the quarter on a positive
note, but sometimes it takes a little more than ‘talking about it’ to get the
market’s full support. The Spyders

forementioned HOLDR actually finished off slightly, down about .4%.
With the SEC ‘frowning’ upon window dressing activities, homemade salad
dressing out at the summer digs in the Hamptons just might have taken
precedence today in this first day of the holiday shortened week. Breadth
statistics such as advancers over decliners, and volume also confirm that
some of Wall Street’s ‘Boys of Summer’ were elsewhere in Monday’s trade. Even
though trade did pick up enough in the final 30 minutes to show increasing
volume over Friday’s numbers, the non biased advancers over decliners showed
the only definitive bias of the day, and that was keeping one’s toes in the
sand versus pounding one’s feet down the canyons of Wall Street.
For about half a session they tried to make a good show of it, but after a
‘long run’ up, the final performance for the quarter definitely weighed on
our ‘market players.’ Maybe it really is time for a new show? You know, time
to reinvigorate, or at least shake. Mark Boucher, one of our resident
contributing editors thinks some the elements are in place, and the charts
are showing some definite topping potential, especially in light of some of
our recent favorites, such as the biotechnology sector
(

it light and tight, especially in light of some of the games that have been
known to be popular during the abbreviated holiday week. More importantly
though, keep your daytrading as a highly developed business, regardless of
what kind of games others might be playing that day.
Stick to the plan. If you’re going to surf the market instead of the coast,
remember to wait for the right set up. Some days the tides are right, and
everything is lining up, affording us plenty of good rides, while other times
we paddle out, only to find mediocre conditions. You can still paddle around,
and possibly get some good exercise, but don’t tire yourself out before the
real surf comes back once more, offering the tasty waves that we truly live
for each and every day.

Stock Reversal Setups Closing Basis.
Stocks that are setting up on a closing basis as potential long or
short reversal pattern candidates. Candidates listed may have
triggered on a closing basis, or close to triggering ( my general rule is to
list the pattern setup if it is within +/-.15 of trigger price). Patterns
include basing patterns (Slim Jims, 1,2,3s, Double bottoms) consolidations,
and triangle reversals. Background technical supports in the form of
Fibonacci levels, EMAs (DEMA=daily ema), RS, and former price action are used
in the decision making process.
