Tuesday’s Top Stocks
Oracle (ORCL) got the nod from Merrill, while everyone else its seems, got in a few extra
winks…of shuteye. Another day of anemic trade–although today, all three of our ETF friends were able to finish in the green. The first two hours of trade did produce some intraday volatility, but after the pump and dump action, the rest of the session’s trade was beset by a grinding churn higher. Volume was ‘mucho, beaucoup’ light as the index proxies finished up between .15% and 1.15% with market breadth going along grudgingly, with a ratio of approximately 1.5:1 in favor of going to the driving range early.
Ok, you caught me. It was really advancers that held in favor of decliners with the 1.5:1 ratio, but all things considered, being out on the driving range seems a heck of a lot healthier than fretting over the market’s very own ‘home on the range.’ Yeah, it might have been a little bit prettier today, seeing how our three ETF friends made the playing field all green and everything, but it’s tough to play a good game when nobody else is out on the field. The semiconductors held the 50-Day EMA and the 50% Fibonacci retracement that we pointed out in our last report thanks in no small part to AG Edwards’ upgrade of Broadcom

PowerRating). So, if you were carrying the technical based reversal overnight, or you went in ‘early on’ this morning, you just might want to thank you know who. No, not AGE, but yourself, as you were ready once again to take advantage of the high-probability, intraday trade.
Some days, it’s going to be more difficult than others, but by being prepared ahead of time at least you have the long-term edge clearly in your corner. You might even get cut up in that day’s fight, but by the time you hear the bell that rings after each and every game, you’ll still be standing, and in fine shape to take on tomorrow’s opponent.

class=890430920-15102001>Stock Reversal Setups Closing Basis.
Stocks that are setting up on a closing basis as potential long
or short reversal pattern
candidates. Candidates listed may have triggered on a closing basis, or close to
triggering ( my general rule is to list the pattern setup if it is within +/-.15
of trigger price). Patterns include basing patterns (“Slim Jims,
“1,2,3s”, Double bottoms)
consolidations, and triangle reversals. Background
technical supports in the form of Fibonacci levels, EMAs (DEMA=daily ema), RS, and former price
action are
used in the decision making process.
