Dow Closes Above Historic 14,000 Level
The major indices showed strength in Thursday’s session with the
Dow adding 0.6%, the S&P 500 up 0.5%, and the Nasdaq up 0.8%.
Strong earnings helped boost the markets today, despite comments
from the Fed that it would not be cutting rates anytime soon.
Crude oil futures for August delivery rose 1.1%
to $75.84 a barrel after Total SA said it would curb exports from
Angola because of mechanical failures. Gold futures for
August delivery rose 0.7% to $678.10 an ounce. To read today’s futures market recap,

Around Europe, Germany’s DAX rose 1.2% to 7,991.21, France’s CAC
index added 1.2% to 6,065.50, and Britain’s FTSE 100 gained 1.1%
to 6,640.20.
