Dow Moves Closer to 14,000 Level

Continuing mergers and takeovers pushed the Dow to a new record
close of 13,950. The Dow added 0.3%, while the S&P and Nasdaq both
fell 0.2% and 0.4% respectively.

Crude oil futures for August delivery rose
fractionally
to finish at $74.15 a barrel.  Gold
futures for August delivery fell 0.2% to $666.30 an ounce. To read

Around Europe, Germany’s DAX index rose 0.16% to 8,105.69,
France’s CAC 40 index rose 0.1% to 6,125.60, and Britain’s FTSE
100 index remained unchanged at 6,697.70.
