Dow Tops 14,000 Level for First Time
The Dow ran to an intraday high of 14,021 before pulling back in
the afternoon. Positive earnings from major names and tame
inflation data helped the major indices to finish with slight
gains.
Crude oil futures for August delivery fell
fractionally to $74.02 a barrel. Gold
futures for August delivery fell fractionally to close at $665.90 an ounce.
Around Europe, Germany’s DAX lost 0.8% to 8,038.21, France’s CAC
40 fell 0.4% to 6,099.21, and Britain’s FTSE 100 fell 0.6% to
6,659.10.
