Irene Aldridge’s book, High-Frequency Trading is an introduction to the world of high-frequency trading that can be appreciated by a wide audience – from those new to the field to those who have already begun to investigate the potential of high-frequency trading. In discussing her work and the book in this Big Saturday Interview, Irene Aldridge shows how technological advances have made high-frequency increasingly popular, even though many hedge funds and pension funds have been slow to fully embrace high-frequency trading strategies. She also points out the critical role of quantitative analysis as a way that traders with both technical and fundamental theories of how markets work can express those theories as tradable tactics and strategies in high-frequency environments.

Irene Aldridge is managing partner of Able Alpha Trading, Ltd. Able Alpha Trading is a proprietary firm that specializes in high frequency trading. Before joining Able Alpha Trading, Irene Aldridge worked with a number of well-known financial institutions such as Goldman Sachs and CIBC. She has an MBA from INSEAD and an MS in Financial Engineering from Columbia University.
