Keys To Success
Took the day
off today. Gave myself a Kaltbaum therapy session. Nah! Nothing
is wrong. I just learned a long time ago that it is so important, in any
venture, to take a step back, and go through your good and bad. I consider
myself to be my own best critic. This has always been my biggest key to success.
I have been wondering about some of the moves I have made recently in the
market. Yes, I am doing fine. But not up to my own standards. So,
in order, here is what I did today.
I started going over each and every move. Not only the trade, but what I felt at
the time. Granted, it continues to be a tough market. After the first 8-10 days
off the lows, markets are flat. Leading sectors like Homebuilders, Restaurants
and Apparel are breaking down. That’s why I am not too hard on myself. Whipsaws
are not fun.

Went through the hows and whys. I have to tell you, except for a couple of
plain, old dumb trades, everything else fit my discipline. But in this market,
you can’t win them all.
When I was done, I started reading some of my favorite inspirational articles
that get me feeling better again. You know, the ones everyone says are too
corny. Well, if reading words of wisdom from some of the greatest successes of
this century is corny, I will eat a lot of corn. As I read them, I started to
feel like my normal self again. Sometimes words can do that for you.
I then starting reading for the zillionth time about my favorite successful
traders and investors. Repetition is the key. Never get sick and tired about
learning. I reinforced everything I have ever learned in just one day away from
the office.
Here are some of the most important keys to success:
Positive Mental Attitude: I know these words can be overused. I
think they are everything. We can’t control all the things that happen to us,
but we can control how we react to them. If you expect success, you have a
better chance for success. If you expect failure, you get failure.
Purpose: Have a definitive goal in mind. My
goal today was to retool the thought process I have on a daily basis.
Belief:Â Belief is a must. It can
transform average into excellence. But belief does not happen by accident.
Hard Work:Â This is where strong
belief comes from. Time, sweat, success and failure all play a part.
Persistence: Simply put…NEVER
GIVE UP.
Integrity:Â Without this, everything
else doesn’t matter.
I wrote this today for me as well as you. Whenever I get down on myself, I
remember all these lessons I have learned throughout my life. Putting it into
words just reinforces my feelings even more. I thank TradingMarkets for giving
me this vehicle.
I am glad I took this day to reexamine myself. I urge you to do it also…not
just with investing but with everything else in your life.
Heading for Phoenix…Have a great weekend!
