reports earnings.  AAPL shares lost nearly 2% in today’s
session.

The price of oil bounced sharply higher
over the course of the trading session on Wednesday, as traders went bargain
hunting following recent weakness. Crude for February delivery closed up $1.03
at $52.24 a barrel after hitting a low of $50.28 a barrel.

After falling as low as $620.60 an ounce
in early trading, gold for February delivery closed up $7.40 at $633.30 an
ounce. With the turnaround, the price of gold ended the session at its best
closing level of the new year.
