PowerRatings 5 Stocks for the Next 5 Days: HURC, CPHD, FADV, ABMD, BZP
If you are a short term stock trader, looking to get into and out of your positions within five to eight days, then our PowerRatings 5 Stocks for the Next 5 Days is for you.
We looked at millions of simulated stock trades between 1995 and 2007. Looking at a variety of parameters–from volume and volatility to trend and momentum–we were able to rate stocks based on a scale of 1 to 10. The lowest rated stocks on this scale were stocks that, based on our research, dramatically underperformed the average stock over the next five days. By contrast, the highest rated stocks on this scale were stocks that dramatically outperformed the average stock over the next five days.
How dramatic were the differences between the highest and the lowest rated stocks in our Short Term PowerRatings?
The lowest rated stock, a stock with a Short Term PowerRating of 1, was revealed to have underperformed the average stock by nearly 5 to 1 after five days. This kind of underperformance is bad enough that traders might even be able to bet against the stock in a short sale, rather than merely avoiding it as a poor buy.
On the other hand, there is the highest rated stock. This stock, which receives a Short Term PowerRating of 10 in our system, was found to have outperformed the average stock over the subsequent five day period by a whopping 16.9 to 1.
Clearly, for traders looking to buy stocks that will go up in the short term, Short Term PowerRatings can provide an excellent edge. Whether or not you use our Short Term PowerRatings as a “final filter” after your own methods have created a list of potential candidates, or simply look for opportunities to trade the stocks with the high (and low, for short sellers) Short Term PowerRatings themselves, our research has made a significant contribution to the field of short term stock trading. Maybe our Short Term PowerRatings can make a significant contribution to your trading portfolio, as well.
All of the stock’s in today’s 5 Stocks for the Next 5 Days have Short Term PowerRatings of 8. Based on our research, this means that all five stocks are likely to outperform the average stock by more than 8 to 1 over the next five days.
In addition to the PowerRatings charts of each stock as of the Wednesday close, I am posting their 2-period Relative Strength Values as of the close of both Wednesday–when many of these stocks crossed our radar–and Thursday.
