Refco Files For Bankruptcy
The Labor Department reported the
Producer Price Index rose 1.9% in September, above analyst expectations.
Tropical storm Wilma was upgraded to a category 1 hurricane and is forecast to
enter the northwestern Caribbean sea where it’s expected to become a major
hurricane that could affect Florida and the Gulf of Mexico.
Refco filed for bankruptcy protection today becoming the 4th
largest US bankruptcy ever. The company left out its futures brokerage business
which is expected to be sold for $768 Mln to JC Flowers & Co. Refco shares
plunged 91% after trading resumed under the symbol

Despite the larger than expected rise in inflation Gold closed
lower today. The US Dollar Index closed higher along with treasuries.
The Minerals Management Service reported that 65% of daily oil
production and 53% of daily gas production remains shut-in. Energy futures
closed lower on the session.
