Stocks Hit New Intraday Highs
The Nasdaq and S&P 500 set new
intraday highs approaching the halfway point of the day. The Dow,
which still has the biggest percentage gain among the major averages, was not
able to push above its previous peak for the day.
The networking sector rallied during early in the session and
remains one of the day’s best performers, despite sitting off its intraday highs
with a gain of about 1.1%. Friday’s early advance comes after a steady drift
lower through most of August that took the space to its lowest level in about 6
weeks. The semiconductor sector is posting a modest advance as well.
