Stocks Start Week with Rally
The holiday-shortened week started off with a bang after bond
yields moved lower and more merger news hit Wall Street. The S&P
and Nasdaq rose 1.1%, while the Dow gained 0.95%.
Crude oil futures for August delivery added 0.6% to $71.09 per barrel. Gold
futures for August delivery rose 1.3% to
$659.20 an ounce.
Around Europe, Germany’s DAX index lost 0.6% to 7,958.24, France’s
CAC 40 index lost 0.5% to 6,026.95, and Britain’s FTSE 100 fell
0.26% to 6,590.60.
