The Dow Records Triple Digit Loss
The major indices all fell nearly 1% in Wednesday’s
session after the White House lowered its forecast for economic
growth this year. GDP estimates were lowered to 2.3% from 2.9% for
the year-over-year projection.
July crude futures rose 0.5% to $65.96 per barrel
after reports that Turkish troops had moved into Northern Iraq to
chase Kurdish guerillas. Gold
futures for August delivery moved fractionally to $674.60 an ounce.
Around Europe, France’s CAC 40 Index
fell 1.7% to 5,977.87, Germany’s DAX lost 2.4% to 7,730.05, and
Britain’s FTSE 100 Index fell 1.7% to 6,522.70.
Today’s
PowerRatings Heat Map continues to show wide-spread bearishness across all market sectors.
