The Layman’s Guide to Trading Stocks: The Big Saturday Interview with Swing Trader Dave Landry

This weekend, our Big Saturday Interview features author, swing trader and former TradingMarkets contributor Dave Landry. Dave is the author of the classic Dave Landry on Swing Trading, and has recently published a new book for traders: The Layman’s Guide to Trading Stocks: Debunking Wall Street Myths, Revealing Wall Street Truths and Everything You Need to Succeed in the Markets.

Says Dave early in our conversation: “One of the problems I see with people when they begin trading is that they’ll start doing something and while it’s working they’ll feel really good. And as soon as it stops working they’ll immediately think they have to change to something different. And people will end up perpetually out of phase.”

“I think you have to pick something, learn its nuances and stick with it good, bad or indifferent. And realize even though trading is an active verb, there are going to be times like right now where you mostly end up sitting on your hands waiting for the next opportunity.”

“And that’s when most people give up. Most people give up right about now.  And then the next trend starts. I call it ‘African Queen’ syndrome.”

From a no-holds-barred critique of the Wall Street myth machine to technical trading strategies and tips on money management, Dave Landry’s book – and our Big Saturday Interview conversation – are a welcome tonic in these days of opinion, emotion and spin.
