The Mental Side of Trading
I sometimes like to go back and re-read books for a second and third time. This weekend I re-read a good part of Ari Kiev’s book Hedge Fund Masters: How Top Hedge Fund Traders Set Goals, Overcome Barriers, and Achieve Peak Performance.
In his book, Kiev looks at how many of his hedge fund clients maintain the proper mind frame to succeed at trading. Though many of these traders are far less systematic and model-driven than we are (and therefore they create more stress in their trading day) there are many good points on the role the mind plays in trading. The book shows that there are some very good techniques they use to keep things in check.
If you haven’t read this book yet (it was published a few years back) I’d suggest picking it up and studying it. We all know that successful trading is a combination of strategy and proper execution and this book does a good job in showing the mind frame needed to successfully execute the strategies.
