The Stock List: Semiconductors Gain as Gold Stocks Rally After Early Selling

Gold stocks spent most of Tuesday under selling pressure until rallying late in the day to finish in positive territory. Meanwhile buyers remained on the offensive in the market for semiconductor stocks. Also making significant gains on the day were railroad stocks, with both ^UNP^ and ^NSC^ up more than 3%.

Missed earnings sent shares of ^BBY^ to new lows below the 200-day moving average. The stock lost well over 6% ahead of trading on Wednesday. ^CSCO^ announced that it was lowering its longer term growth projections, a move that was accompanied by the stock’s second consecutive higher close.

Special to 7 Stocks You Need to Know

These three questions may be the most important questions you ask yourself as a trader this year:

Is my trading portfolio hedged?

Is my trading portfolio acting normally?

If the answer to either or both question is “no”, then what I can do about it?

Make no mistake: these three questions are critical when it comes to managing and growing your money in the New Normal of Volatility and Black Swans (two in the past three years!).

And fortunately, these three questions are also at the core of what the Fall 2011 Semester of the TradingMarkets Swing Trading College is all about. With a special section devoted explicitly to Risk Management, the Fall 2011 semester of the Swing Trading College is not to be missed.

The Fall Semester has just begun, and with every class, every technique, every question and every answer recorded and available to enrolled students, now is still a great time to sign up and get up to speed on some of the latest research into growing and managing your money using quantified swing trading strategies and techniques.
