TradingMarkets Mid-Day Movers
After coming under pressure in the
previous session, the U.S. stock markets moved back to the upside at the start
of trading on Friday. The major averages, however, were unable to sustain their
initial and turned lower not long after the open.
The major averages all pulled back into
negative territory, reflecting significant weakness among disk drive, computer
hardware, and airline stocks.
After showing a notable decline in the
previous session, the price of oil has moved back to the upside in morning
trading on Friday. Crude for March delivery is currently up $0.71 at $54.94 a
barrel after ending Thursday’s trading down more than $1 a barrel.
After turning lower over the course of the
previous session, the price of gold is seeing some further downside in morning
trading on Friday. Gold for February delivery is currently down $1.80 at $646.30
an ounce after ending the previous session down $0.10 an ounce.
