TradingMarkets Mid-Day Movers
After showing a lack
of direction earlier in the session, the U.S. stock markets have moved higher
over the course of Tuesday morning. The major averages have all moved
more firmly into positive territory.
After showing a significant decline in the
previous session, the price of oil has moved back to the upside in morning
trading on Tuesday. Crude for March delivery is currently up $1.07 at $55.08 a
barrel after ending Monday’s trading down more than $1 a barrel.
The rebound by the price of oil is partly
due to news that Saudi Arabia is cutting production by 158,000 barrels per day
as part of OPEC’s plan to cut production by 500,000 barrels per day as of
February 1.
The price of gold has moved higher in morning
trading on Tuesday, moving back to the upside after ending the previous session
in negative territory. After ending Monday’s trading down 41.50 an ounce, gold
for February delivery is currently up $2.30 at $645.50 an ounce.
