The laws of supply and demand don’t apply to gasoline prices
“Refiners supplied 7.4% less gasoline than a month ago, yet managed to
increase inventories by 2.5%. This can be explained in one or both of two ways.
The first is that perhaps there has been disconnects between production and
distribution so that refiners are finding it necessary to store product. This
explanation is unlikely. The more likely explanation is that consumer demand is
down by more than production.”
