Tropical Storm Alberto Fails To Lift Crude Oil
Monday was free of economic
news but Cleveland Fed President Sandra Pianalto commented she was
troubled by recent news on inflation (more).
Treasuries closed virtually unchanged after trading in a narrow range all day.
The US Dollar Index closed slightly higher, despite the Dollar losing 0.82%
against the CAD.
The National Hurricane Center
warned tropical storm
Alberto, the first named storm of the hurricane season, is “…moving faster
toward the northeast Gulf of Mexico coast…” and hurricane warning is in effect
for the Gulf Coast of Florida.
Despite the news, Crude Oil, Unleaded Gas and Heating Oil futures closed lower,
Natural Gas was flat.
The softs were mixed, Lumber closed limit-up and Orange Juice gained 0.99%.
Sugar -0.93% was the only notable loser.
All the grains closed higher, with Soybean Meal +2.60%, Soybeans +2.43% and Corn
+2.27% leading the advance.
