U.S. Stocks Finish in the Green Despite Shanghai Selloff
The major U.S. indices made a late-day comeback
after stumbling in the morning on Shanghai’s 8% selloff. The
Nasdaq and S&P indices added 0.2%, while the Dow made a fractional
gain.
July crude futures rose by 1.7% to $66.21 per barrel
after reports that supplies in Nigeria may be further disrupted. Gold
futures for August delivery fell fractionally to $676.30 an ounce.
Around Europe, France’s CAC 40 Index
lost 0.7% to close at 6,125.81, Germany’s DAX lost 0.1% to
7,976.79, and Britain’s FTSE 100 fell 0.2% to 6,664.10.
