Wednesday’s Top Names
Today was an up day, but it ended in
disappointing fashion. Stocks opened higher as a bounce after the large sell-off
yesterday. The positive tone led to a surge in the indices around 10:30 ET when
Federal Reserve Vice Chairman Ferguson hit the wires with generally upbeat
comments about the economic outlook. Then with an hour left in trade, the
markets dropped off, but were still in the green.
Strong Sectors: telecom, semiconductors,
steel, wireless, software, broker/dealer, computer-hardware, networking
Weak Sectors: restaurant, tobacco, home builders, utility, oil service,
natural gas
