Liquidity

The amount of trading activity, and thereby the ease with which you can get in and out of a market.  Measured by volume (and open interest in the case of future markets).  It is the capability to convert an asset to money quickly.  It is safer to invest in liquid assets because it is less difficult to get your money out of the asset.
