Why We Fear A Weak Dollar

This piece was
written by Greg Che.

Markets opened lower Thursday and are
continuing to trade that way.

The U.S. dollar fell against the
European currencies once again. With the CPI Core number coming in 0.2% higher,
pretty much in line with the consensus, and jobless claims falling by 8000 to 380,000,
which was better than expected, you may have thought that the markets would have
moved higher. The weakness in the dollar is just a knee-jerk reaction to the
global environmental conditions. The fear that foreign investors will pull their money out
of the new corporate bonds purchased over the last year is most likely not going
to happen. Why? Because the U.S. economy is not in a full recession and our yields are
still good.
