Here Are Tuesday’s Top Names
The ETFs finished mixed in
Monday’s session as the DIAs and SPYs both closed higher, while
the QQQs ended down on the day.
Today’s trade was once again marked by tepid
volume and contracting volatility. The pace did pick up slightly from last week,
but it certainly did not mark the return of the Generals. Contributing to the
somewhat bullish tone within the market were crude oil prices softening after
spiking to a two-year high, and a slightly improved tone to retail sales during
the post Christmas period.
The SPYs and
DIAs have both breached their November trendline pivots on an intraday basis.
Today’s close above these levels is a start in the right direction, but stayed
prepared to trade from both sides as always. With most of Mondays buying being
more of a case of bargain-hunting in beaten-down sectors, rather than a decisive
allocation of funds by the “smart money,” we remain cautious in any
forecasts and continue to stay focused on opportunities as they happen intraday.
Fortunately, as daytraders we have this luxury. If we stay prepared with our
lists, and keep ourselves vigilant during the trading day, opportunity still
makes itself available to us, while others only see the chop at the end of the
day.
