shares rallied today after the deal was
announced.

However, it wasn’t all plain-sailing, after disappointing economic news came
in the form of orders for durable goods fell by more than expected in August.

The U.S. dollar hit another record low versus the euro this morning but
managed to rise during the session. Platinum hit a record high and copper rose to a two-month high.

Crude oil rose today, closing back above $80 per barrel.
