Day Trading, Volatility and Options

October 12, 2009 by Larry Connors

I received a few emails from traders recently asking for my opinion on Jeff Augen’s new book Day Trading Options: Profiting from Price Distortions in Very Brief Time Frames.

Overall I like Jeff’s work and this book has a few good nuggets in it. If you’re looking for intra-day technical set-ups and strategies, you won’t find them here. The book mostly focuses on intra-day volatility along with his findings that options are overpriced on a close-to-open basis and underpriced on an open-to-close basis. If you don’t trade volatility, then this book isn’t for you. But if you do trade volatility, there are some good pieces of research which you may be able to apply.

By the way, we interviewed Jeff Augen as part of our Big Saturday Interview series. You can access that interview here.

With 80% winning ETF trades in the model portfolio from October 2008 – you too can realize this level of success with Larry Connors’ Daily Battle Plan.
