Fed Announcement Leaves Room For Improvement

Major indices all close in
the red for the day.

Mixed earnings from Altria and Merck, combined with a
Fed outlook that does not ignore future rate hikes, lead to a down day in the
major markets.

Fed raises short term interest rates .25% to 4.5%,
signalling Alan Greenspan’s last move as active Fed Chairman, and leaving the
door open for more rate increases in the future.

Gold futures touched a new 25-year high as increasing
tension in the Middle East continues to fuel demand for save-haven futures.
