Thursday. Semis were weak early on but led the way higher the the session close.
Cyclicals were stronger than consumer
stocks and oil and natural gas continued lower.Â

Jobless claims for the week ending 11/13 fell
3000 to 334,000, matching forecasts; the 4-week moving average rose to 338,250.
The Conference Board’s index of leading economic indicators fell 0.3%, the fifth
straight monthly decline.
Does the rally have legs? That’s the question
trader’s are asking. The bulls say we are playing catch-up, and the bears say
watch out for slowing earnings next year. Also, REITs were lower today…is this
a top to interest rate sensitive stocks.
The streetTRACKS Gold ETF (GLD) begins trading today, the first
commodity-based ETF. The price is 1/10 of that of gold. An oil ETF is in the
works, too. Capital gains for this product is 28% because it is treated as a
collectible.
The USDA said a second possible case of Mad Cow disease was found in the
US. Cattle were limit down; it was the largest decline since March. Definitive
test results will take 4-7 days.
