Hewlett Packard Calls Fall; Stocks Sink
Apple’s earnings warning sank stocks Friday, as all three major averages
failed to overcome a big dose of negative sentiment. Top sectors of the day were
chemicals and oil services while semiconductors and technology were the weakest.
By the close, the VIX had increased 1.90 to 23.85.
The OEX October 780 calls fell 5 1/8 to 7.
