Stocks staged a broad based advance
yesterday, boosted by the news that President Bush nominated Ben Bernanke to
replace Alan Greenspan as chairman of the Federal Reserve.

company revealed better-than-expected earnings for the just-completed quarter,
however, and announced a $5 billion stock repurchase plan. DuPont is the best

mid-September.
