TradingMarkets Mid-Day Movers
Earlier this week TradingMarkets.com published new
research on what the month of December is likely to have in store for the
stock market. Our research, titled “Will
December Be Up Or Down?” showed some interesting results when comparing
all Decembers with those that have followed a market that is up after the first
11-months (as it is this year).
The major averages are
all trading in positive territory, boosted by today’s strong economic
numbers.
The Nasdaq is leading the advance after leading
yesterday’s decline. Very few sectors are trading lower and the Semiconductor
index is the best performing sector, thanks in large part to a 5% jump in

In today’s economic news, the Labor Department
reported Productivity growth hit the fastest pace in two years (report).
The Department of Commerce reported Factory Orders rebounded in October (report),

Treasuries are trading higher and the US Dollar
Index is posting slight gains. The Dollar hit a 32-month high versus the
Japanese Yen yesterday.
Energy prices are mixed, with Crude Oil trading
at $59.95 (+0.07%), Natural Gas is flat, while Unleaded Gas and Heating Oil are
pulling back.
The metals are all pulling back but the losses
are modest.
